Trip to Fukuoka

I went on an MWR trip today to Fukuoka (the biggest city on Kyushu island) and went to one of the biggest shopping malls I've ever been to. Well actually, this is the second time that I went. Last week I went with my friend Laura and we took the train without knowing this was going to be the same mall that I had already booked through mwr. Anyways, so today I took some photos of the stuff around me and bought a really cute hat for only about 12 American dollars. Here are some of the fun things I found today :)

These are some of the deserts that you can purchase at little counters all over the malls in Japan, however, these are probably one of the most amazingly delicious desert counters I have ever seen!!!! They looked too good to be true and I was thanking myself for, for once, not being in the mood for sweets! Click on the photos to see them bigger.

Views from Hakata Train station (where the mall was).

The Halloween Decorations in the mall. The pumpkin scarecrow was painting???? I don't know what was up with him. lol.

My lunch for the day.... I went to what looked like a Japanese Denny's because of the way it was all set up and with the general atmosphere. I ordered a couple things of steamed dumplings. One was shrimp and one was pork. Each pot came with 3.

This was my table set up. They give you complementary tea in just about every restaurant that you go into and this place's actually tasted more like American iced tea. I liked it a lot and had a few glasses. They gave me a little bag of nuts as a "snack."

My first encounter with Japanese Kit Kat bars. I was very excited that I finally saw some! For those of you that do not know, Japan is well known for their different varieties of Kit Kat bars. These flavors looked like strawberry and I actually have no clue about the other kind. I'm thinking maybe hibiscus????? Any guesses?
At one of the malls, they had a whole parking garage just for bikes!!!!

  1. Love all your photos! The purple Kit Kat bar is purple sweet potato. いも on the package is "imo", which means potato. Okinawa is famous for purple sweet potatoes, and so they often decorate packages that have that flavor with tropical flowers, like they might decorate a package of macadamia nuts or pineapple from Hawaii with tropical flowers.
